Perfect for durable slippers and clothing.
I have made 8 pairs of slippers thus far. This yarn knits up well and washes well in cold water. It also wears well.

lovely color, the yarn is very rough, don't know the breed of sheep - could be Shetland, the yarn "grabs" as you knit - the roughness catches and it doesn't flow. That said, I assume it will wear like the other Tuffy yarns. The yarns are comfortable
I will consider Tuffy yarns for socks in the future. The resulting socks are rather rustic and homey looking

I love making socks but most sock yarn is so thin and lightweight it takes forever to make them! I love the tuffy brand from Briggs & Little as it lets you make a durable and warm chunky sock!

Best wool in Canada
I have always bought Briggs and Little wool. My company is Aunt Maggie's Homespun and I have always ordered wool from them in the New Brunswick mill. Since I moved to Alberta last year to take on a teaching position in a Hutterite Colony, I explored the Internet looking for the closest company that sold Briggs and Little. This yarn is a little rough, but my cat LOVES it! I guess it's the smell of lanolin from the wool? Either way, she absolutely loves it and will muff the ball as I'm working with it and purr, so I use it to make blankets for her to lay on.

Warmest Socks Ever
I knit my second pair of Tuffy socks, a gift for a friend to wear with her riding boots. Two skeins is more than enough for a pair of socks with a long leg. The yarn is on the stiff side for knitting, especially if you knit the socks tight (which is a good idea for socks), however, they are quite comfortable to wear. My older pair have pilled but they are work socks so I don't care about looks and maybe I wasn't as careful as I should have been washing them. Nevertheless, they are unbelievably warm and wear like iron.
